How To Create Read Only User In Oracle
Read Only User in Oracle Fusion
In this article we will see how can we create a read only user, who can only query any record but cannot update them. If user tries to act smart, he will receive a error message "You have read-only access to all applications. You cannot perform updates. (FND-3319)" as shown in the image below. So, now lets proceed to see how it works.
How to give Query Only Access to any user
Navigation : Setup and Maintenance » Search » Search task "Manage administrator profile Values"
To give a ready only access, obviously, you will first have to decide who would be that user. Let's say we identify that user and the user name is "iavinash.com". Now, the first step would be to navigate to task "Manage administrator profile Values"
If you are looking for any kind of training on Fusion HCM, please contact us today. We are offering online training and also offline training in Hyderabad for discounted price. iavinash.com
Now search for Profile Display Name "Read Only Mode", you will see screen like below
Under section "FND_READ_ONLY_MODE: Profile Values" click on Action and then select "New". After that select profile value as "User", for user name filed search and select the user you want to give read only access, for this example we have selected user name "iavinash.com". Once that is done, select profile value as "Enabled", as shown in the image below.
Once these all are done, simply click on "Save and Close" button.
Verify user only has read only access
We have completed necessary steps to give ready only access to user "iavinash.com" now its time to verify its working as expected. For the same we will have to login as user "iavinash.com".
As soon as you login to fusion application you will notice a warning message "You have read-only access to all applications. You cannot perform updates." above the global menu section as shown in the image below.
But I know you are not going to believe me so easily, so lets try to update any record and see if user is allowed to do so. Here we try to update assignment details of an employee and get error message "You have read-only access to all applications. You cannot perform updates. (FND-3319)" as shown below. Hope you believe me now.
How to roll back read only access
At any point of time if you decide to give full access to user, all you need to do is delete the profile option value, or change the value to "Disabled" as shown in the image below.
Lets verify this change again, if you login again through same user, you will not see that red warning message and system will allow you to update the record. In the image below you can see warning message "" has disappeared.
As always I hope this article was of any help. And in case if you have any question to ask, please post them here » Oracle Fusion Forum
