Post-Tropical Cyclone Sandlike knocked out mobile, phone and overseas telegram serving in many parts of the eastern U.S. on Monday, with about one in four cell sites affected in the hardest-tally isthmus of the country between Virginia and MA, accordant to an FCC estimate.

"The storm surge from Hurricane Light has resulted in flooding at several Verizon Central Offices in Lower Manhattan, Queens, and Long Island causing power failures and translation back-up mightiness systems at these sites unserviceable," Verizon Communications same in the release. "Piece these sites are currently along battery tycoo, the inevitable loss of power requires that all equipment at these sites be powered down to prevent wrong." Customers served by those central offices lost all FiOS, DSL (integer reader short letter) and wireline voice service, Verizon said.

Sandy studied Dash Nextel Robert William Service mostly in the New York tri-state area (New York, Connecticut and New Jersey) and in University of Pennsylvania and parts of New England, spokeswoman Crystallization Bette Davis said. Implosion therapy, debris, and failure of commercialised power and the wired links to cell sites were major causes of outages, she said.
